changed the date...just so non-friends know the jist...is that the word? [Apr. 19th, 2008|09:45 am]
[mood | giddy]

Alright, I might be getting paranoid, or over zealous (is that an actual word?)

..but I've decided to start making all my posts into 'friends only'. I don't mean to be rude or anything of that nature, I would love for anybody and everybody to read and we all know we're comment whores. Thing is, I'm getting anonymous comments of somebody that knows my name, who I cannot ID. And not that my life is anything beyond boring day to day stuff, but just to be on the safe side. Plus what I'm about to post these days is something I'd like to share but without worrying about anything.

Granted, I'm sure that if anybody wants to swap friend list adding, I'll be more than eager

peace

(no subject) [Feb. 27th, 2007|08:50 am]
[info] Early Tuesday morning and I don't have much to write about....no news, except:

1. A few days ago I decided to create and art blog...so all of my art related posts will be here [info]artewen  from now on.

2. Several very good friends are getting married soon: Guillermo (and Carol), Pablo (and Marianela), and Carla (and Jesús) which is pretty fun and happy news of course. And it's got me back into looking at wedding stuff. Here's a couple of blogs that seemed extra nice, I'm posting in case anybody else has a latent taste for everything fluffy and pretty: Oh Joy!  and Something New

Other than that, it's been the same old, same old...have been working on the layout of a book on conservation. It's actually a Manual for projects related to carbon sequestration. It's not good money, but it's good enough and I feel rather good about contributing some to a good cause.

So there....kudos to me! :)

Back to the regular posts I hope.

First and foremost, I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I launched my new website....it's still ongoing, but I have at least 10 decent pieces to show now and am actively looking for freelance jobs at New Age/Wiccan/Spiritual publishers.

No on to the day -to-day stuff: This was today's lunch

That's Marlin Maki, Nigiri and Ceviche...plus the Chayote squash, Chinese cabbage salad and some green beans and tofu in soy sauce. For those of you who know sushi: yup, it's a bit crowded in my sushi plate, but I only have one....so send me one, or bite me. o_0

And I know most of you are up to your ears with my tropical beach photos...but I can't help it. Last weekend we returned to the Caribbean coast for some, much missed and much needed sunny, sandy, salty TLC. So here's a little something for you folks up north fighting off the sleet.

Sunday quiet sunday [Dec. 3rd, 2006|05:38 pm]
It's been good these past few days. A bit more relaxed, I think finishing my first portfolio and almost putting up my illustration website has taken a load off my shoulders.

Now I'm sitting here planning out trip to China. The country is so huge, you really have no idea where to begin...and with Pablo's tendency of travelling long and ambiciously, well.....

We decided to trace the Silk Road. Beijing, Xian, Lanzhou and stop at Dunhuang, which is still. I've been thiking all morning about where to make stops, so far the best candidates are: Luoyang and the Longmen Caves, the Labrang Monastery near Xiahe, the Blinging Thousand Buddha Caves, and the Mogao Caves, Crescent Moon Lake Oasis and dunes at Dunhuang. I dunno, it's kind of crazy and scary.

Oh, and Pablo wants to go to Harbin so we can freeze our butts off looking at the Ice city.
I think by the end of the trip, we'll be about up to our frostbitten ears with buddhist caves and ancient city walls.

This is yet another Photo heavy entry...so sorry, it's just that I'm more of a "visual" person (aka I'm too lazy to type it all out)

We visited three museums which displayed mostly mayan art: Popol Vuh, Museo de Arqueología & Etnografía, and Museo Ixchel. Mayan art is amazing. There's so much to learn, see and be inspired by, it makes one kinda sick.

I will never be.... [Aug. 21st, 2006|12:34 pm]
[mood | tired]

I will never be sporty spice...but I did manage today to get off my sleepy, lazy butt and go out cycling with Pablo & Pablo (our madrileño neighbor) at 6 am today.

I have to admit, they were jogging, I was on the bicycle, but still...it's the thought that counts, right?

RIGHT?

So here's a photo: It was an incredibly clear morning. You can see the mountains that surround the Cartago Area in the distance.

my pc...not me....I am never, ever buying AMD again.

Alright, so I've got a good excuse why I haven't been showing my face around here...no computer...hence, no online life. So I've had to dedicate myself to my offline (aka real) life a bit more.

Lately it's been mostly trying to get a grip on my time, for some reason, it's pretty f'ing hard to control. The fun part of my days are mostly making jewelry and headpieces for a Costarican bridal magazine.

And I mustered some time to make the first piece for my illustration portfolio...hopefully, more will come sooner than later.

merde! I haven't posted anything in forever...besides random photos of my work table. Reason is, all I see everyday is my worktable. I've been wildly productive, but also getting tired easier and easier as the semester goes by. Luckily, it'll be done in about a month.
On other good news. Pablo's coming again in less than a week, which has me really jolly of course. It also means, I need to work extra hard so I don't fall to far behind when he leaves. Hopefully the fall colors are still going to be around by the time he arrives.

Which remidns me, here's a photo of a gingko tree I walk by every day on my way to school. I love ginkos....love the shape of their leaves, and did you know it's a very ancient species? It's right up there, next to the cycads.

You scored as Captain Jack Sparrow. Roguish,quick-witted, and incredibly lucky, Jack Sparrow is a pirate who sometimes ends up being a hero, against his better judgement. Captain Jack looks out for #1, but he can be counted on (usually) to do the right thing. He has an incredibly persuasive tongue, a mind that borders on genius or insanity, and an incredible talent for getting into trouble and getting out of it. Maybe its brains, maybe its genius, or maybe its just plain luck. Or maybe a mixture of all three.
